Anna’s Rising Hope Foundation was born out of love, resilience, and the unwavering belief that every child deserves a chance to rise above life’s challenges.

The foundation honors the extraordinary life and legacy of Mami Anna Lum, a woman whose selflessness touched countless lives.

Mami Anna was the devoted mother of ten biological children, but her heart was far too big to stop there. With her limited means as a humble peasant farmer, and alongside her husband, Pa Tamasang, in their small two-bedroom rented house, she welcomed and raised dozens of other children who were not her own by blood but became her own through love. Her home was always overflowing with children—some seeking shelter, others in need of food or comfort—and none were ever turned away.

Despite her many hardships, Mami Anna never stopped giving. She would share her last harvest with neighbors, regularly visited prisoners with food and clothing, and offered support wherever she saw need. Her generosity was not born out of abundance, but out of compassion, faith, and a deep sense of responsibility for others.

Her own health battles were difficult—she suffered from chronic diabetes, endured an amputation, and ultimately passed away from sepsis. Yet, even in her last days, her spirit remained unshaken. On her dying bed, she would say that she could hear children crying, pleading that “we should take care of them,” though no children were around her at the time. It was as if her soul’s final message was a call to continue her lifelong mission of caring for the vulnerable.

Her words, her sacrifices, and her remarkable life became the inspiration for Anna’s Rising Hope Foundation. The name Rising Hope reflects her belief that hope must never die—that even in hardship, hope can rise, heal, and transform lives.
